lost city, wv

March 22, 2009

I am here for the night and this is the view from the deck:dsc_0028

Tonight we are planning to dine at the Lost River Girll which claims they are “straight friendly” on weekends. Should be another great experience to add to the weekend.

Will post more about my weekend adventure soon. Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday afternoon!

if I had a million dollars

January 21, 2009

“If I had a million dollars…” not only is it a great song by Barenaked Ladies it was a topic of endless conversation around the dinner table growing up. We would debate for hours what we would do if we won the lottery, trips we would take, cars we would have to purchase, etc. I still dream endless of what I would do if large amounts of money fell into my hands miraculously!

So for today, if I had a million dollars, that I could spend entirely selfishly, I would hire Walker-Warner to create a gorgeous house like the one below in Sonoma, CA. While their entire portfolio is incredibly beautiful, today I am dreaming of the setting below.

And I would want a kitchen like the one below from a post by Design*Sponge.

inspiration

January 15, 2009

Where does inspiration come from? Wiktionary defines inspiration as “the act or power of exercising an elevating or stimulating influence upon the intellect or emotions.” It also says the word derives from Old French.

Since beginning my stint in graphic design a few months ago, I find myself looking for inspiration at every turn. And with such an incredible amount of information clicks away it is not difficult to find just what I need to start the mind wheels turning.

From a blog I follow, The Estate of Things came this inspiration:

From this inspiration came the following newsletter header I created for Inn at Riverbend‘s February email blast. I have a relation to the owner (my Mom) so tend to get involved in the business. If you are on the east coast and need a wonderful place to stay, I highly recommend booking the “Jessica” room. Its the best one, I personally guarantee it!
